An idyllic country retreat for those who appreciate the rural aspect of Lanzarote. Centrally located in the tranquil village of Tiagua, a 10 minute drive will take you to Famara or to the charming town of Teguise which hosts a handicraft market every Sunday.

Price all year through: 400 Euros per week Based on 2 guests.

Location Information: The cottage is conveniently close to the local restaurants, bars and shops, around 2 minutes stroll and you are there!

For the guest who likes to get out and about there are so many places to see within the local surrounding areas, nothing is very far away which means that when you stay at the Bodega Cottage, you can do as little or as much as you like.

If you are feeling adventurous there are some brilliant walks or bike riding opportunities around this quaint rural area. Plus some excellent surf and kite surf schools and equipment hire in Caleta De Famara.

Bodega is a 200 year old renovated traditional Canarian property with thick walls, timber roof and high ceilings with wooden beams which creates an airy open feel. This also means that you stay cool during in the summer heat and keep cosy in the cooler months.

There are two bedrooms, the Master bedroom consists of a four poster double bed plus en-suite bathroom. The guest bedroom contains two single beds and each of the bedrooms has lovely countryside views. There are two shower rooms with wash basin and W.C. each has half flush water saving system.

Other eco friendly credentials at this property include: a solar water heater, low energy light bulbs, plus a local recycle point. There is an hourly bus service which is less than two minutes walk from the finca.

Within the large privately owned grounds there is a fig tree and vines. The pergola was made with salvaged beams from the original finca, and the house has been fitted with good quality antique furniture some of which has been hand painted restored and distressed. Guests can also make use of the local produce farmers market in the local town.

Tiagua is a modest village which boasts the biggest visitors attraction of this area - the award-winning Museo Agrícola El Patio. This is an open-air museum offering a comprehensive insight into Lanzarote’s intriguing, ingenious and unusual agricultural traditions. In the early 20th century this was the biggest and best-run estate on the island. By the second half of the same century, many of the workers had left this rural area to take up more attractive jobs in tourism.

To the right side of this museum complex there is the original manor house where visitors can explore the many rooms and wander into the grape press, bodega and grain store. There is also a wine museum, a small chapel and a garden featuring cacti and other endemic plants.

Various animals, including chickens, donkeys and are kept in the courtyard, which means that in particular, children will enjoy this local site. There are also two carefully renovated windmills which dominate the buildings on the left of the courtyard. This all forms the main agricultural museum where the exhibitions comprise vast displays of traditional agricultural tools, harnesses, ancient ceramics, fine examples of plait work, folk costumes and a collection of original photographs reflecting scenes of the hard-working rural life on Lanzarote years gone by.

Visitors are invited to finish their tour of this pleasant and very informative museum, by enjoying a taste of the locally produced wine and the traditionally made goat cheese!

Tiagua is fast becoming a popular and trendy chic rural location for the eco friendly traveler. There are some very popular local restaurants including the el tenique canarian grill tapas which has been highly recommended by the owners of this property.

Cliff View Suite for two

Aptly named as the view of the cliff this luxury one bedroom accommodation unit within the Haria country estate is an ideal romantic property for two people. From the large master bedroom with King Size bed, traditional Canarian design flows with ease throughout offering a peaceful romantic ambience.

Each room has been carefully furnished, including a fully fitted kitchen, luxurious shower room with WC & double wash basins. The absolute Jewel in the crown is the huge L shape living area which follows the path from the side of the finca offering views to Corona around to the front of the building across farm land and out to sea.

Translated to English they are aptly named, West & Rising, from Naciente you can view the sunrise lift from behind the Famara Risco cliff, and from Poniente see her travel across to the West, dipping down as the evening approaches.

Both of the almost identical houses has a floor space of 172m2 complete with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a luxury country style kitchen, dining area, lounge room and a conservatory dining area.

The owners designed the house themselves placing a huge amount of importance on privacy. The outside terraces and swimming pool were a priority, and great care has been taken in the design and layout of the large leisure area. The swimming pool has a unique design with a Jacuzzi and separate children's splash pool linked to the main pool. There is a separate barbecue area and a hot tub all of which are surrounded by tropical gardens.

Stepping up from the sun terrace there is a magnificent porch, where you will find an American billiards table, table tennis and darts board. Alternatively you may choose to just sit back and relax in the shade on the double swing or quality poolside furnishings.

Playa Blanca is the most southerly resort in Lanzarote. Until quite recently, this was a small fishing village at the bottom end of the island. The fact that there was a bustling port where you catch the ferry to Fuerteventura meant it was always ripe for development.

Today Playa Blanca sits quite proudly as the islands most popular tourist resort, yet thankfully the area is well laid out, and never feels over crowded. The 'over the top tourist resort vibe' has been successfully avoided, therefore Playa Blanca has retained a healthy and attractive glow.

There are a host of things to do in Playa Blanca as well as the obvious attractions of the local beaches. The promenade is laced with bars and restaurants linking both sides of the resort. Las Calas is a large 19th century country house dating back from around 1800. The building has been lovingly restored to its original quality, and was opened as a luxury country Boutique Hotel back in 1999.

Las Calas is known as "The House of Senses", because of its traditional charm, gentle mix of chic contemporary design, plus added ethnic touches. From the lattices of doors and windows, to the rotunditity of African art within the numerous sculptures around the living areas, there is a sheer feeling of elegance throughout.

Eggs, milk, and other organic ingredients for healthy eating are purchased from the local hamlets farmers.

Each rooms contains a TV (satelite channels), central heating for the cooler months, minibar, safe, bathrobes and a hairdyer. General utilities within the hotel include a restaurant, lounge area with open fire place, large gardens and a shared swimming pool.

Location

Around the La Vega de Mateo area you will find two protected natural resorts - Camaretas and Hoya De Gamonal. Los Pozos De Nieves is the highest part of the island and the trail 'La Mina' with its water mills should also be mentioned. Along the la Mina trail thanks to the uninterrupted supplies of water, the huge Laurel forest stands tall.

Every weekend there is a local produce market held in the nearby village which should not be missed. Other attractions include the Molino De Gofio, and the ethnografic museum (Cho Limones) where visitors can view examples machinery used for agriculture in years gone by.

Originally a farmers house, La Labranza is situated within the stunning Rural area of Santa Lucia de Tirajana close to the village center. This is an off the beaten track location which is privileged by natural surroundings. A picturesque environment which blends with footpaths up to the top of the mountains, and down through the valleys leading to the Atlantic Ocean.

An ideal rural holiday location for visitors who wish to enjoy Relaxing getaways, Romantic breaks or Family Adventure holidays within a traditional and Natural Canary Island environment.

For the active traveller - both land and sea based active excursions are close at hand. From walking & hiking trails, cycling tracks, and only a short drive to the coast for some excellent water sports. The owners of the cottage are extremely helpful and will be waiting to offer help and recommendations.

La Labranza was originally a farmers cottage, El Pajar was built as a complementary section to the main house. In the past the building was used to dry tobacco and for general service area to the local farming activities. Since being restored and renovated, El Pajar has been transformed into a comfortable and charming holiday cottage.

Santa Lucia De Tirajana is an off the beaten track location, which is privileged by natural surroundings. A picturesque environment which blends with footpaths up to the top of the mountains, and down through the valleys leading to the Atlantic Ocean.

El Pajar is a single storey cottage with two large bedrooms which sleep up to four guests in total. Each bedroom has been fully fitted with quality furnishings and home comforts. Guests can rent El Pajar with either one double bedroom for 2 people (price included above) or for 4 people with two double bedrooms at 920 Euros per week..

Bedroom one contains a wash basin and W.C plus there is a separate shower room with a further wash basin and W.C. There is a fully fitted country kitchen with open plan dining area and lounge for relaxation.
