Stay eco chic has been built by a team of friends who enjoy working together with quality properties whilst offering an added eco friendly twist. Between us we have skills which complement each other perfectly along with the united attitude that being a responsible tourist need not be daunting, but should be accessible and appealing on a variety of levels.

About Heidi

Following my tourism studies I worked in the retail travel sector, and was then offered a position working overseas for a UK based travel company. I was offered a choice of five locations to travel to - Lanzarote was one of them. Due to the fact that I had recently enjoyed a break here the choice was easy, and so, thirteen years later I am still here on the island with my family.

Prior to setting up stay eco chic I had been working with my family on interior design projects which was linked to the tourism industry, by preparing and furnishing properties to suit the holiday rentals market. One of our aims at stay eco is to ensure that we select properties of a certain quality and taste which can appeal to a variety of visitors.

We are extremely dedicated to this project and there are many ideas to continue building on. 2010 will be a very exciting year and we are extremely grateful to everybody who has supported us.

The way we book our holidays has changed beyond belief in the last 10 - 12 years . Recent reports show that one third of internet users are searching online for travel and accommodation related services now.

About Tila

My original dream was to not be reliant on the mainstream providers of electricity and water in our family home. It began almost as a hobby and gradually became a lifestyle. Using natural and recycled materials from the land Michelle and I have gradually built our dream home and successfully implemented our ideas, for example using wind and solar systems for our electricity supply, grey water to keep our gardens flourishing, and well water supply for all.

This has had such a huge amount of positive feedback not only from our friends and family but from the locals who live around us here in Lanzarote. We have now taken those ideas up a level by expanding for the ecotourism market and introducing the eco friendly retreat at Finca de Arrieta:

I am so proud to have made the hobby become such a fantastic way to help the environment by using sustainable living ideas. At Finca de Arrieta we have one of the largest 48 volt systems for solar and wind power in Lanzarote right now.

Lets not forget that every effort makes a difference low wattage light bulbs, offering recycling opportunities in rental properties, solar heating on pools to name but a few. The locals here love to help with ideas and appreciate efforts we make to maintain this beautiful island.

The aim is now to help further by making more people aware of ways that they can make a difference.
