Teguise Village
 When you are visiting Lanzarote, make it a priority to include a trip to the former capital of the island. Teguise village is full to the brim with rustic charm and cultural sights. Known to the local community as 'Villa de Teguise' the area is said to be one of the best preserved historical centers to be found anywhere in the Canary Islands.

 Each week the largest of the island markets is held within the streets of Teguise from 9am until 2pm, offering local arts and crafts. On some stalls it is possible to haggle so bear this in mind when browsing.
Sunday market Entertainment in Lanzarote 
The main square usually has local Canarian musicians offering entertainment for the passers by to enjoy. You will also find all manner of food and drink being sold, from quaint tapas bars to individual stalls selling freshly squeezed orange juice. There are also many cafes & bars in the cobbled streets of Teguise for those who simply wish to sit and watch the world go by.  

Our point of View: The market is a lovely morning out and a great place to get your holiday gifts. It's wonderful to visit this historic village on any given day of the week, to take in the rustic vibe and calm serenity. During the market Sunday it's a little more difficult to appreciate the laid back, rural charm aspect to the area. Dont miss out on the market its good fun, but maybe try Teguise on a different day of the week too!

Not to be missed if you wish to experience the real Lanzarote!
