La Gomera

Like most of the Canary Islands, La Gomera's southern region tends be warmer and good for winter sun breaks. Only a short ferry crossing from the neighbouring Island of Tenerife, La Gomera offers a much slower pace of life and the perfect oppotunity for total relaxation and serenity. This is a quiet and tranquil Holiday destination, and is one of the best eco vacation areas within the Canaries.

La Gomera is the second smallest of the Canary Islands, a truly mystical destination which litterally rises up from the Atlantic ocean. The highest point is the Alto de Garajonay at 1,450 metres, which remains to be the largest and best preserved representation of an ancient eco-system.

Due to the deep barrancos (ravines) there is very little flat land on La Gomera, which makes it an excellent location for active holidays including hiking and cycling as well as romantic relaxation breaks. Half of all the Laurisilva forests on the Canaries are here in La Gomera within the world heritage UNESCO site, a must see for Island visitors!

This is a is a truly relaxed Holiday destination with a population of around 20,000 people, many of whom live in the capital, San Sebastian, or the small traditional villages in the north.
